The Residence is located in the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. The structure is over 150 years in age, and originally 4 stories in height. The building was originally built as a single-family residence that had been converted to a multiple dwelling. The Design Alliance received the design commission of converting the building back to its single- family occupancy and given the task of also adding an additional floor, with terrace space, for the enjoyment of the New York City skyline.
The renovation and alteration of the building complied with the owner request to provide for the exterior aesthetic restoration commensurate with the period or style of the original architecture, as well as provide an interior with the conveniences of modern amenities. The program requirements included a home theater, several other entertainment areas, a large kitchen, and the latest types of appliances.
The bathrooms are designed luxuriously with whirlpool baths and other amenities. Many of these features are visually in keeping with the particular style of architecture for the building, but hidden behind decorative panels.
